Forest certification labels and the verification of good forest management practices by the authorities through their forestry services have the same objective: to guarantee the origin of responsibly managed timber. However, they represent two different guarantees. The first is ensured through the award of a forest certification label, granted by independent certifying bodies, which assess compliance with strict environmental and social criteria. The second, on the other hand, is the result of continuous inspection on the ground by forestry agents, who monitor the application of good practices, the legality of operations and respect for forest conservation standards.
